The Chicken House Press Official Statement Against AI
The following is the Chicken House Press commitment to its authors in light of the unsettling saturation of artificial intelligence in the creative space.
Chicken House Press is not interested, nor will it entertain, AI generated work, and is only seeking original stories written with human voice and heart.
Chicken House will never own the right to your voice or your likeness, only your original story/text as written by your hand and signed over via contract negotiations. As your rights holder, Chicken House Press will opt out of text and data mining options wherever possible.
Chicken House Press will never give permission, sell AI rights, or AI licensing for an author’s writing or likeness to be harvested, scraped, or otherwise ingested to train AI engines.
Chicken House Press stands firm on the fact that authors are accountable for the originality and integrity of their manuscript and in signing a CHP contract are affirming that they are the sole creator of the work (with the understanding that inspiration comes in many forms and authors themselves “mine data” from every corner of their personal experiences and cultural consumption).
AI tools cannot take responsibility for what they produce and therefore cannot be credited with authorship of any CHP publication.
No matter how sophisticated AI technology becomes Chicken House Press believes it will never replicate the emotional capacity of an honest writer. CHP trusts in the integrity and gifting of the human voice and has no interest in perpetuating a system that devalues that.
