Chicken House Press Named Best Independent Publisher - Ontario in the 2025 Canadian Business Awards

I am delighted to announce that Chicken House Press has been awarded the title of Best Independent Publisher - Ontario 2025 in the prestigious Canadian Business Awards presented by Corporate Vision magazine.

This recognition comes as part of Corporate Vision’s eighth consecutive year celebrating Canadian excellence across various sectors. The awards, announced on February 21st, highlight businesses that are driving the future of Canada’s economy through innovation, growth, and resilience.

“It has been a pleasure to work with our winners and it's always fantastic to be part of their success,” shared Awards Coordinator Kaven Cooper in the official announcement. “We're delighted to showcase our awardee’s monumental achievements no matter the size or age of their businesses.”

Among recipients ranging from healthcare providers to luxury getaways, PR agencies to specialized retail, Chicken House Press stood out for my commitment to making publishing accessible and championing creative voices that might otherwise go unheard.

Since the transformation from Alanna Rusnak Publishing to Chicken House Press in 2021, I have operated with a clear mission: to champion the work of creatives and make publishing accessible to anyone with a talent for words and a heart for story. This award validates not just my business model, but the importance of creating pathways for writers who might be overlooked by traditional publishing channels.

This recognition feels especially meaningful because it honours a journey that began with my own rejection letters and has blossomed into a space where other writers can find their path to publication. I’ve literally built this business from the ground up—transforming a chicken coop into a publishing house during lockdown stands as a perfect metaphor for what I do: I take raw potential and help it become something beautiful. This award belongs to every author who trusted me with their words and every reader who believed these stories deserved to be told.

As I move forward in 2025, Chicken House Press remains dedicated to my core values of authenticity, transparency, and empathetic service. I continue to believe that publishing should be accessible to voices that bring diversity, uniqueness, and fresh perspectives to Canadian literature.

This award isn’t just a celebration of past accomplishments—it’s motivation to continue breaking down barriers for talented writers for years to come.
