Terms & Conditions

When you launch into a publishing deal with Chicken House Press or Alanna Rusnak Publishing you are entering into a legally binding agreement. It is important that you read the contract you’re presented carefully and have a clear understanding of the agreement between yourself and the publisher.

This contract is not meant to intimidate, but to educate and protect both parties moving forward.

In mid-2023 the Chicken House Press contract was been vetted and extensively edited by two Ontario lawyers from different firms as well a NYC book publisher.

THE HIGHLIGHTS:

  • The contract will specify your rights to the work. In most cases Chicken House Press will assume all creative rights for at least five years from date of publication and become the owner of your work. If you choose to publish with Alanna Rusnak Publishing, you are giving non-exclusive rights to ARP, meaning you’re free to take your book elsewhere if you so desire. Alanna Rusnak Publishing does not own your content.

  • The contract will specify your cut of the net royalties of your book sales. These ratios vary and will be negotiated during the proposal phase of the process.
