Writer's Café for Kids Teacher's Manual

from $13.99

The Writer's Café was designed to encourage children up to the age of 12 to embrace their voice, remove the mystery of 'new ideas', unlock inspiration, and discover the joy of storytelling. This four hour program can be split into blocks to fit your own schedule. Take a full Saturday and knock it out all at once, or do weekly hour long sessions, culminating in a time of sharing.

Using the opening sentence from William Golding's Lord of the Flies, students will craft their own stories, learning that even if everyone starts from the same place, they will find themselves going in wildly different directions.

With many opportunities to contribute to discussion and participate in collective brainstorming and sharing sessions, children will learn to appreciate the diversity of imagination, and in the end, have a story to share with their families. While the workbook walks children through each lesson, leaving lots of room for them to record their ideas and work on the writing assignment, the Teacher's Manual will help the leader direct each lesson. With helpful discussion questions and insightful tips, this manual will allow anyone to bean encouraging voice in a child's creative journey. This program is designed for use in a classroom or workshop setting, and is not recommended for individual use.

You can opt to purchase the digital download instead, available for $10.
