Give Chance a Brake — a 'We Are All Different' book
Mrs. Gordon, the same teacher who brought you How Covid Changed Us, Meet Joe, and I Am Au-Some partnered with other staff and students at her school to participate in this special project that celebrates a Chesley District Community School student with fetal alcohol spectrum disorder. With input from guardians, teachers, and educational assistants, Give Chance a Brake is an educational tool for families and classrooms everywhere.
Also available through Amazon - [PAPERBACK] or [KINDLE]
Mrs. Gordon’s third grade students are so lucky to share their classroom with Chance, a boy who was born with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder.
They are learning that everyone is different in their own way, and sometimes, our differences can look like having ‘leaky brakes’.
Just like a car has brakes to stop, children have brakes in their brains to help them stop certain behaviours. When a child’s brakes are leaky, they may have a hard time stopping some of these behaviours.
Mrs. Gordon’s students are learning how to recognize children with ‘leaky brakes’ and how to support them within an inclusive classroom.
