HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
After you make initial contact, I will put together a proposal that includes a timeline, price quote, and pay structure based on the services you select. Allow 72 hours.
Once the proposal is accepted, you will send me your polished manuscript (as a .doc, .docx, or .pages document file). I will make up your invoice for all selected services and I will draft your publishing contract. Allow 5 business days.
When the contract has been signed and returned and your initial payment has cleared, I will begin the editing process which could take anywhere from 10 business days to 6 months depending on the length of your manuscript and my current workload. This will be approximated in your proposal.
After you have approved the edits, I will begin work on the interior layout. This is also the time in which I will apply for your unique ISBN. Allow 10 business days.
When the interior has been approved, cover design can begin. Allow 10 business days.
After you approve the cover, I will submit it and the interior files to the printer for approval, after which a proof copy can be ordered.
You will go through the proof carefully to ensure everything is to your satisfaction. Final payment is due when you sign off on the proof. At that point the book can be listed on Amazon and print copies can be ordered. Author copies will always be available to you at cost + 10%. Please allow up to 25 business days for author copies to be printed and delivered*.

You will have a role and a say in every stage of the journey.
Timelines are subject to change. Sometimes circumstances beyond my control get in the way, but you will be kept in the loop regarding any delays or changes.
*Author copies are shipped via FedEx or UPS. Delivery times vary vastly depending on the time of year and your order may be subject to duty fees if you are outside of Canada.
The International Standard Book Number — or ISBN — is a unique 10 or 13 digit number that identifies a specific book and has been required of publishers who print books for the commercial market since 1970.
As a registered Canadian publisher, Alanna Rusnak Publishing acquires a unique ISBN for every title published under its imprint from the Library and Archives Canada, located in Ottawa, Ontario. Every ARP print title then becomes part of the permanent Canadian library.
