Rewriting the Script on Children and Grief
With the support of her family and a publisher that believed in her vision, Amber Kuipers is set to release her debut children’s book, When Grey Came to Stay, this August.
With beautiful watercolour illustrations by Linda Yolanda Kloosterhof and a tender story of loss and recovery, Kuipers personifies grief in a way that is relatable to both children and adults.
“Amber Kuipers’ Grey is a universal presence, one that all of us encounter when we experience loss or change,” says Miki Beldman, RN, MRC, MRE. “[Kuipers] has been able to capture the process of befriending Grey with care, sensitivity, and simplicity—a gift to all of us, young and old—that emanates from personal experience and awareness. It’s in my top 5 Grief books I’d recommend to clients and friends.”
With a heart for those who mourn and a conviction to give back to those who advocate for the grieving, Kuipers has pledged a portion of the proceeds from all pre-order sales of the book to the Dr. Bob Kemp Hospice in Hamilton, Ontario which offers specific and targeted support for children and youth who have experienced loss.
When Grey Came to Stay is available in paperback and hardcover from the publisher at alannarusnakpublishing.com, paperback and Kindle through Amazon, and Kobo through Chapters/Indigo.
Store owners and distributors are invited to register as a retailer of Alanna Rusnak Publishing and Chicken House Press titles to enjoy a wholesale discount on copies of the book.
