Note: Chicken House Press will not publish the “N” word except in carefully discerned cases where the author has proven a cultural and ethical argument to the contrary. (We have yet to receive such an argument.) It is the CHP recommendation that you remove any occurrences of this word before sending a full manuscript. Failure to do so will not disqualify your work from publication, but this will be addressed if you move into the editing process. You should not expect a compromise. If you believe the removal of this word harms the integrity of your story, it might be in your best interest to seek out another home for your manuscript.
